December 2006 - Permian Acquired by SMS Management & Technology

Permian is pleased to announce that it has been acquired by SMS Management and Technology (SMS), Australia's largest publicly listed management services company.

Dr Stephen Mabbs, Permian's Managing Director, said he was delighted with the acquisition and outlined a number of significant benefits for existing customers of both companies. For Permian, SMS provides proven management systems, balance sheet strength, a national footprint and significant capability reachback to tackle larger projects. Permian will benefit from SMS's extensive infrastructure, quality accreditation, and financial strength enabling it to better service its current clients and compete for larger projects previously out of its reach. Permian clients in Brisbane and Canberra will gain access to higher levels of service through SMS offices in those locations. For SMS, the acquisition provides a solid footprint into the Defence industry hot spot in Adelaide, and access to a number of major defence industry clients nationally including BAE Systems, Boeing, Defence Science & Technology Organisation, Tenix, Raytheon, Lockheed Martin and Saab Systems.

Permian's capability in systems engineering and integration complements that of SMS in strategic planning, business performance improvement and project management. The combined talent of both companies will mean a more complete service delivery for clients.

Under the new arrangements Dr Mabbs, based in Adelaide, will maintain responsibility for managing and growing Permian's existing work scope, and report directly to SMS CEO, Tom Stianos.

October 2006 - Permian provides additional support to SONAR simulation

Permian is providing additional support to Maritime Operations Division of DSTO in the integration, testing and documentation of the VRFP federates. For further information about this project, refer to the Virtual Submarine SONAR Simulation project page.

October 2006 - Permian has won a place on the DSTO Technical and Consultancy Services Panel

The Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) panel has been established to enable provision of services to DSTO Fishermans Bend and Maribyrnong (Victoria) sites under a standing offer arrangement.

September 2006 - Permian completes acceptance testing of Defence Anthropometry Software

Permian has successfully completed acceptance testing of the Recruit Assessment Screening Software and Crewstation Accommodation Software developed under the Anthropometry Project.

Permian engineers installed the software at the Aviation Medical Institute (AVMED) for further post-delivery evaluation by the project customer. The overall project is expected to complete in the first half of 2007.

September 2006 - Permian provides support to ALR-2002 project

Permian is pleased to be providing support to BAE Systems on the further development and testing of the ALR-2002 Radar Warning Receiver.

September 2006 - Permian provides support to JP 2098

Permian has been selected to provide integration, test and demonstration engineering services for JP 2098, the Joint Combined Training Capability. JP 2098 represents a high profile project for the ADF and the initial focus of this project will be to support Exercise Talisman Sabre 07 scheduled for mid 07.

September 2006 - Permian release new version of OTHR Simulator

Permian has released a major upgrade of its OTHR Simulator. This release has significant improvements in ionospheric modelling through incorporation and use of the CCIR International Reference Ionosphere (IRI). For further information about this product, refer to the OTHR Simulator product page.

August 2006 - Permian completes development of Link-11 and Link-16 libraries

Permian has recently completed development of full implementation of Link-11 and Link-16 TADIL messaging libraries and is currently validating these libraries prior to deployment in a number of simulation and training products.

May 2006 - Permian features in ADM article

Permian has featured in a prominent article in the Australian Defence Magazine. The article discusses Permian support to the ADF through involvement in key Defence programs such as AIR 5333 Project Vigilare, and application of Permian's modelling and simulation capabilities to help train ADF radar operators under a Defence Minor Project.

May 2006 - Permian at Simtect 2006

Permian has once again exhibited at Australia's leading simulation conference and exhibition, Simtect, this time on two stands - one jointly with the University of Ballarat to demonstrate software developed under the Anthropometry Project, and the other jointly with DSTO to demonstrate Permian's contribution to the ADGESIM Project

March 2006 - Permian contracted for Recruit Anthropometric Screening (RAS) enhancement

Permian has been awarded a contract enhancement under the Anthropometry Project to provide additional functionality for the RAS Software. The functionality enhancement includes a help reference and discriminant measurement display facility for users, to provide more streamlined measurements of recruits' anthropometric measurements.

March 2006 - Permian makes final delivery of OTHR Training Aids

Permian has made final delivery of its updated OTHR Training Aids to the OTHRSPO and 1RSU. Permian was previously contracted to provide a range of enhancements to it's OTA suite after it was licensed by Defence in 2004.

March 2006 - Permian completes ASTERIX upgrade for Air Traffic System Simulator

Permian has completed and delivered an updated version of its Air Traffic System Simulator for DSTO. This latest version also supports ASTERIX Category 062 format output, which is representative of the developing interface from Vigilare output of the TAAATS system.

March 2006 - Permian completes upgrade of VMS-SONAR Federate

Permian has completed and delivered Phase 2 of the VMS-SONAR HLA federate development to DSTO's Maritime Operations Division. The simulation system is now undergoing acceptance testing by DSTO.

December 2005 - Permian completes second delivery of anthropometry modelling software

Permian has delivered the second of three builds of software for anthropometric modelling and recruit screening, as part of the Anthropometry project.

December 2005 - Permian makes initial delivery of upgraded OTHR Training Aids

Permian has made the first of two deliveries associated with an updates to its OTHR Training Aids. The next delivery is on track for delivery in the first quarter of 06.

November 2005 - Permian delivers simulation training course

Permian once again presented its simulation training course on the High Level Architecture (HLA), this time to Raytheon in Perth. The course was lauded as "a good introductory course for anyone involved or wanting to understand the technology".

November 2005 - Permian and Sydac complete Vigilare Simulation CDR

Permian and Sydac, who jointed forces in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) to win the Vigilare Simulation software development project, successfully completed the project Critical Design Review.

After completion of the associated action items, the team will now shift focus back to completion of Build 2 software development activities.

November 2005 - RPDE Rapid Environmental Assessment (REA) Task

Permian has continued providing support into the next phase of the RPDE REA task.

October 2005 - Permian completes review of JP2089 FPS/RTM

As the independent review team for JP2089, Permian completes its review of the FPS and RTM.

October 2005 - Permian in Sypaq consortium successful on DMOSS

Sypaq has been announced as a major service provider on the DMOSS Panel. Permian is pleased to be a member of the Sypaq team and looks forward to a continuing its association with Sypaq and Defence through this panel.

September 2005 - Permian awarded extensions to Virtual Ship SONAR simulation development

Permian has been awarded another contract to further develop the DSTO Virtual Ship SONAR Simulation. Permian developed the initial Virtual Submarine SONAR Simulation package under Phase 1 of the Virtual Ship Replacement Combat System Federation Package (VRFP).

August 2005 - Permian to provide extensions to OTHR Training Aids

Improved fidelity in the extended OTHR Training Aid software

Permian has been contracted to provide extensions to its range if OTHR Training Aids currently being used by the RAAF to provide training to Over The Horizon Radar (OTHR) operators. The extensions relate to fidelity improvements of ionospheric modelling.

August 2005 - Permian completes development of MSFS-HLA interface and licences to international customer

Permian has added a new product to its product stable - a HLA interface to Microsoft's Flight Simulator®.
