Virtual Submarine SONAR Simulation

SMS Defence Solutions developed the VMS-SONAR federate for DSTO's Virtual Submarine project.

This federate can be configured to simulate a range of sonar arrays found aboard the Collins Class Submarines.

The federate is HLA compliant and was developed to a specification provided by DSTO. SMS Defence Solutions utilised a structured approach to requirements analysis and design, and documented traceability between requirements and implementation using UML notation.

Phase 2 development of the VMS-SONAR federate was completed by SMS Defence Solutions in March 2006 on budget and ahead of schedule.

More recently, SMS Defence Solutions has been providing additional support to Maritime Operations Division of DSTO in the integration, testing and documentation of the VRFP federates.
